8. Spacecraft
It is one of the flying machines that is designed in a way to operate in the outer space. It has a versatile design and can be used for several purposes such as navigation, colonization of space, communication, monitoring of weather, exploration, transportation of cargo and humans and meteorology. These are the artificial satellites that are unmanned and automatic and stay in space for a long time. They orbit around the Earth with a speed, distance and communication from the Earth depend on their purpose of launch.
These are driven by the rocket engines and several other means of propagation. However, they are very expensive as their building, launching and operating cost is very high and lot of energy is required to leave the surface of the Earth. Research is being conducted to lower the cost of these space craft’s so that more people can it for reaching the space.
7. Space Plane
A space plane is a strong airspace machine that has strong speed and propulsion power to leave the surface of Earth and then reach back safely. These can be propelled by the jet engines or rockets.
Although space planes are efficient in working but very few of them have been launched successfully, mostly from United States. The successful ones are North American X-15, Buran, Boeing X-37, SpaceShipOne and Space Shuttle.
6. Aircraft for Cargo
These space vehicles are designed to carry ammunition and cargo to the space rather than the humans and passengers. These are fixed-wings aircrafts that are not designed for comfort but the highest load carrying capacity.
The Antonov An-255 Mriya was one of the bulkiest aircraft developed. Hercules C-130 is one of the popular aircraft and is used for military purposes all around the globe.
