The Right Stuff is a historical drama film originated from Tom Wolfe’s best-selling book of the name, The Right Stuff in 1979. The most interesting part of the movie is it was a box-office failure as the budget of the movie was $27 million and it earns about $ 21 million. But still it nominated for eight categories in Oscars and receives four Oscars for sound, original score, film editing and sound effects editing.
In this movie the first human space flight was sent by the United States. And the test pilots from Marine, Navy and Air force were selected to be the astronauts for Project Mercury.
3. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
2001: A Space Odyssey was the highest grossing North American movie of the year 1968. The budget of the movie was $10.5million -$12 million and at the box office it grosses $146 million.
This film was directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick. It gets four nominations for Academy Awards and Kubrick got it for his spectacular direction skills of the visual effects. Keir Dullea and Gary lockwood plays the lead role in the film.
It was considered to be ‘’culturally, historically and aesthetically significant ‘’ by the United States Library of Congress in 1991. It was also being selected by the National film Registry for preservation. It still has its spark after so long that in 2010 The Moving Art Film Journal named it the greatest film of all time.
