3. Flat Earth Society
In the year 1956, Samuel Shelton had founded as society based on the shape of the Earth that is flat. The society was based on pure self-observation and common sense. He foreseen the globe shape of earth as claimed by many scientists as dogmatic that mean the claim lacks much evidence. When he was showed images taken by satellite of Earth, he stated them to be fake. He and his fellow members continued to support their claim of flat Earth and saw other who denied it as the individuals who wanted to keep the truth about earth hidden.
He died in 1971, and his society was then handed over Charles Johnson who served the society till his death in 2001. With no one to lead the society later dissolved.
2. The Face on Mars
Two Spacecraft were launched on a mission of mars. It was in the year 1970s and was headed by NASA. The two space crafts were known as Viking 1 and Viking 2. In a image received by them, they observed that a hill located on mars showed some features that looked similar to a face.
A theorist Richard Hoagland stepped up the game by stating that it didn’t look similar to a face instead it looked exactly like a face. He claimed that it was a face of a city cydonia a blue print which shows the alien colonization. It was later proved that it was simply an eroded mesa.
Hoagland denied and argued stating that equipment utilized for the image to be taken by NASA was not accurate as the previous satellites (Viking 1 and 2). He also stated that NASA manipulated the images to make it look less of a face [source: Hoagland].
Later many images were taken and were shown that the mass similarity to a face was due to the different patterns of hill and mountains on the planet which was basically misinterpreted as a face.
